Subway Delivery

Holy crap! Check this out (from HuffPost):

NEW YORK (Associated Press) – A subway station at the foot of Broadway doubled as a labor-and-delivery suite Friday for one pregnant New York City woman.

Kelly Xion gave birth to a healthy baby boy on the platform of the Bowling Green station on Manhattan’s southern tip.

Two Fire Department paramedics were on hand to assist in the delivery, while straphangers and tourists gawked.
The woman had been waiting for a train to Brooklyn when her labor went into overdrive at around 3:40 p.m.
EMT Jerry Chatelaim tells the New York Post that by the time he and partner Thomas Loggins got to the scene, the baby was already crowning.
The delivery happened in a New York minute.

Afterward, mom and baby were recovering at a hospital a few blocks away.

  1. Ha! I think I might trade my experience (26 hours of labor followed by an emergency C-section) for this one! Who cares if tourists see my lady business if it’s all over so quickly!

  2. My cousin had to deliver his wife’s baby in the car on the way to the hospital. My little cousin was helped being born by his older sister! In the car. On the Brooklyn Bridge or something. LOL. Love these stories!

  3. OMG! I’d die…I’d just die! Not of embarassment, but just….no, I can’t even imagine it. Great story though!

  4. Crazy story!
